About Guadalhorce Golf

Play on a Costa Del Sol golf course, redesigned by Miguel Angel Jimenez. Guadalhorce Golf Club is an ancient country estate which dates back to the 16th century. At the beginning of the 19th century, the Larios family converted the Colmenares country house into a stately mansion with English influences. The U-shaped building has a beautiful courtyard in the middle. In 1987, a group of golfers from Malaga created a Society to set up a private golf course. Once the project was under way, this group was joined by a number of Finnish people and together they took the project forward and the private Spanish-Finnish golf course was born. Guadalhorce Golf Club was inaugurated in 1989 and its first president was Angel de la Riva and the post is currently held by Javier Alonso Martinez. The position of Honorary President was accepted by D. Juan de Borbon and since the 22nd of July 2003, following the death of his father, His Majesty King Juan Carlos 1 assumed the role of Honorary President of the Club. Salvador Alvarez Escobar is responsible of the General Management of the Club and Sebastian Bruna is the Club Professional.
